HELP US KEEP THE
HERITAGE ALIVE:
On December 1, 2007 the Seabee Museum and Memorial Park
announced a major building fund raising campaign, dubbed
the "Can Do Building Campaign." The objective is to
raise the money needed to construct a modern museum
building to house the Museum's growing collection within
3 years.
One of several concepts for the new building
"This capital campaign is
the future of this Museum. The new building will be a
world-class facility dedicated to honoring and
commemorating the extraordinary accomplishments of the
Seabees and Civil Engineer Corps. It will allow us
explain to future generations how this elite service was
formed right here in Rhode Island,” said Nicholas Fisch,
president elect of the non-profit Museum.
Museum will need
approximately $250 thousand to complete
construction and create displays to enhance visitor
experience. When completed, the building will allow the
Museum to preserve and display many of the hundreds of
photographs and other items currently in storage.
On February 4,
2008, New
Boston Development Funds announced a challenge grant at
the Rhode Island state capital building. They will
match, dollar for dollar, all donations up to $50,000.
In addition, New Boston will be providing $20,000 in
site improvements to the Museum.
"This capital campaign is the
future of this Museum." said Nicholas Fisch, president
elect of the Seabee Museum and Memorial Park. "The
proposed museum building will further preserve the
Seabee heritage and will provide an opportunity for
school children, Gateway visitors, Seabee veterans and
other visitors to learn more about how this elite
service was formed right here in Rhode Island" said
Nicholas Fisch, Seabee Museum and Memorial Park
President Elect. "Personally, I can’t think of a more
suitable way to honor the Seabees. With New Boston’s
help, we will make this a reality."
To those who have so generously donated in the past, we
say thank you. However, your support at this time
is critical. It will assure the long term
survival of the Museum and will allow us to honor the
contributions and sacrifices of Seabees of all eras. In
addition, this building will permit us to properly
educate the public about the US Navy Seabees and about
the cost of freedom.
Now, while your dollars
will go twice as far, please consider a
donation
to preserve the original home of the Seabees.

A Note About Employer Matching
Gifts -
Many employers match gifts to 501 (c) (3) non-profit organizations
by their employees. To find out whether your
employer (and/or your spouse's employer) has a
matching gift program, you can use the search
engine on
matchinggifts.com.
This will check a database of companies that match
gifts to non-profits. Select "Museum." However, many
programs have restriction on the exact type of non-profit
they will match and some may not be on this database. Be sure to check with the company.
If you have any question
about the building fund, or if you wish to discuss a
donation, please
email us.
Thank you in advance
Regardless
of the amount of the donation, your contribution is very important
and deeply appreciated.
